Overview
Key Responsibilities
ISP Tuning & Image Quality Optimization
- Assist in tuning ISP pipelines (AE, AWB, noise reduction, sharpness, contrast, color) for camera systems deployed on edge devices.
- Work with senior experts to adapt and optimize ISP tuning for Jetson Orin-based platforms.
- Debug ISP pipelines and identify image artifacts such as noise, color shifts, distortion, and HDR-related issues.
- Support calibration of camera modules across varied lighting and environmental conditions.
Image Quality Evaluation
- Perform subjective and objective image quality (IQ) evaluation across multiple use cases including daylight, low-light, and IR scenarios.
- Use tools like Imatest to analyze:
- Sharpness, distortion, and uniformity
- Lens artifacts (flare, chromatic aberration)
- Color accuracy, dynamic range, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)
- Execute benchmarking against reference devices and competitor systems.
Testing & Validation
- Design and execute IQ validation workflows for different camera systems.
- Generate detailed IQ reports with findings, root cause analysis, and recommendations.
- Support lab-based and real-world testing using controlled lighting setups.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with:
- Hardware teams (sensor/lens selection, IR filters, optics)
- Software teams (camera pipeline integration)
- ML teams (camera performance impact on downstream models)
- Track issues and improvements using tools like Jira.
Required Qualifications
- 8–10 years of experience in:
- ISP tuning / image quality engineering
- Camera validation and testing
- Hands-on experience with:
- ISP parameter tuning (AE, AWB, LSC, noise reduction, etc.)
- Image quality tools such as Imatest, ImageJ, or similar tools
- Familiarity with:
- Image quality test charts (ISO 12233, Macbeth Color Checker, etc.)
- Camera lab setups and lighting environments
- Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with Ambarella or similar ISP platforms.
- Exposure to:
- Automotive cameras (ADAS/DMS)
- Surveillance or consumer camera systems
- Familiarity with Jetson Orin or NVIDIA camera stack (nice to have, not required).
- Understanding of HDR pipelines (e.g., DOL-HDR).
- Experience working with multi-camera or edge AI systems.
